Important SCDHEC Vaccine Information

A helpful page on the SCDHEC website continues to be a source of up-to-date information on the COVID-19 vaccination process across South Carolina.

Visit this page for more info on COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments:
https://scdhec.gov/covid19/covid-19-vaccine/covid-19-vaccine-appointments

That landing page contains a link to find the contact information of vaccination locations:
https://gis.dhec.sc.gov/vax

This tool is an updated map interface that shows which locations have the vaccine available.

Additional CDC and SCDHEC Resources

The Centers for Disease Control and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control continue to be the trusted sources of updates and guidance on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. You can access a wealth of information from their web pages concerning the virus, prevention, testing, treatment, and vaccination.

The CDC landing page for the coronavirus is located here:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/

The SCDHEC landing page for the coronavirus is located here:
https://scdhec.gov/covid19

We do not have any way of tracking the number of COVID-19 cases or positive tests within Savannah Lakes Village. However, the SCDHEC Testing & Projections page offers a state-wide dashboard where you can view the latest information for McCormick County.

Upcoming COVID-19 Testing Events at SLV

Abbeville Area Medical Center will be onsite at the Monticello Golf Club once again in February to conduct free COVID-19 testing clinics. Anyone wishing to be tested may come and receive the test.

You may also find other avenues for receiving a free COVID-19 test by visiting this resource on the SCDHEC website:

Abbeville Area Medical Center

Abbeville Area Medical Center has a primary care office at 131 Holiday Road here in SLV called Savannah Lakes Family Medicine. They area accepting requests for COVID vaccine appointments via email. Their ability to schedule is dependent upon the allocation they receive from the State.

To request your COVID-19 vaccine through Savannah Lakes Family Medicine, you may send an email to slfmvax@abbevilleareamc.com.

AAMC’s Guidance for Vaccination of Those Who Have Previously Tested Positive for COVID-19
“Patients with a COVID positive test result should wait 60 days before receiving their initial vaccination. As you might remember we discussed there is a 90 day window where people have the antibodies after having a positive COVID test. Our medical staff feels comfortable stating, wait 60 days before attempting to schedule a vaccine. This allows 30 days to get an appointment and for protection of the patient to have an appointment secured before their 90 day window concludes.”

AAMC referenced a CDC-authored prevaccination checklist to help guide whether a person should receive the vaccine or not. This is not required to bring to a vaccination appointment, but it may be helpful in making a decision about whether to receive the vaccine.

To request your COVID-19 vaccine through Self Regional Healthcare, complete the form at this address:

A Message from Self Regional Healthcare about Vaccination:
“There has been some confusion about how individuals in Savannah Lakes should access COVID-19 vaccinations at Self Regional Healthcare, and we’ve noticed this in recent comments on NeighborLink. We’d like to clear this up: If you received your first SRH COVID -19 vaccination prior to 1/19/2021 you may simply walk in for your 2nd vaccination on or after the date indicated for 2nd vaccination on your vaccination card. If your 1st vaccination was after 1/19/2021, your SRH scheduler has made you an appointment to receive your 2nd vaccination, and communicated that appointment date to you. For all others seeking vaccination, the best way to access that is by filling out the form at: https://www.selfregional.org/covid-vaccine-request-form/. Calling Self Medical Center Savannah Lakes is NOT the most efficient way to be scheduled for vaccination. Thank you for your cooperation.”

This concludes our COVID-19 Community Update for Friday, January 29, 2021. Thank you for doing your part to help fight COVID-19 and keep our community safe. Please refer any questions about testing and vaccination to your primary care physician or the healthcare partners mentioned above.

COVID-19 Community Update – 12/15/2020

Dear SLV owners,

We are continuing to carefully watch and adjust to COVID-19 cases in around our two-state region as well as locally. The following includes several important updates, so please read carefully.

We hosted another COVID-19 testing site at the Monticello parking lot today (12/15/2020) through SC DHEC and Abbeville Area Medical Center. Based on unofficial counts, 480 people were tested earlier today. This was a record number of tests administered. We thank everyone who came out to be tested, which will help SLV, SCDHEC and others to make decisions as we continue to navigate daily through the COVID-19 period. We will report on the results of this latest testing site as soon as results are made available from the lab.

Unfortunately, as we have seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in McCormick County, we have also had a few active cases in our SLV Village Office. Through contact tracing and following all safety measures, we have no reason to believe that exposure was extended to SLV owners or other visitors through the Village Office. We continue to disinfect our office (and all facilities) and follow all safety protocols. Through remote working by those who must quarantine and reshuffling of those who are not in quarantine, we have been able to minimize impacts to our services, while also caring for our team members who have been affected by the virus and quarantine requirements. Although our office is open (masks required), we encourage you to call the office at (864) 391-4116 for all business that could be conducted remotely. We also appreciate the thoughts and prayers for those affected. All DHEC protocols continue to be in place and we are confident that normal operations will resume by early next week.

Additionally, all previously reported adjustments and safety protocols that have been made to SLV services remain in effect. The clubs are offering patio counter service and curbside pickup, but remain closed to indoor dining. Please continue to wear masks as per the McCormick County ordinance and as we respectfully ask and remind through signage at the entrance to all SLV facilities. As we work to close out 2020, we look forward to a post-COVID-19 environment in the months ahead — getting back to all the social programs and events that help to make SLV such a great place to live. In the meantime, let’s all renew our resolve to help keep each other safe and well.

COVID-19 Community Update – 9/29/2020

We were informed this afternoon of three additional active cases of COVID-19 within Savannah Lakes Village. Those who tested positive are in contact with those who could have potentially been exposed to COVID-19. As in the other few cases we have seen, we appreciate the quick action by these owners that demonstrates their concern for others in SLV. We pray for their speedy recovery.

We are sharing this very latest information with our community as a reminder that although cases in our community have been very low to date, we still remain at risk during this COVID-19 period. If you have received notification that you came in close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, SC-DHEC recommends the following (these are the same procedures we follow for team members in the workplace):

  1. Self-quarantine and take a COVID-19 test any time after developing symptoms, or after day 7 from the date of potential exposure. Testing negative does not shorten the necessary quarantine period.
  2. If the person potentially exposed lives with the person who tested positive and cannot stay separate from them during the quarantine period, they should quarantine for an additional 14 days beyond when the positive person meets criteria for release from isolation (therefore, minimum of 24 days).
  3. If the person was in close contact with someone with whom they do not live, they should quarantine for 14 days after their last contact with the positive person.

Now is the time for us all to continue safe practices of social distancing and wearing of face coverings when social distancing is not feasible. We also ask that all members continue to wear face coverings when entering all SLV facilities. Our service teams are continuing to follow recommended guidelines, including the wearing of face covering when social distancing is not achievable, and following all other practices including pre-shift temperature checks.

Let’s all continue to take the virus seriously and follow all CDC guidelines — not only for the health and well-being of our own households, but also for our beloved neighbors and team members.

COVID-19 Community Update – 8/28/2020

Dear SLV Family,

We hope this message finds you living well and enjoying the late summer season. As we bring you a comprehensive update on our adjustments to the COVID-19 event, we want to begin by recalling the recent good news reported earlier this week that of the 297 people tested for COVID, there was only one individual who tested positive. And that individual resided in a Georgia ZIP code. View the full update here.

We are grateful for the perseverance, goodwill, and unity we are seeing as all of us in Savannah Lakes (property owners and team members alike) pull together to weather this storm. We’re continuing every day to double down on service. Whether we are enjoying “normal” or managing “2020” conditions, we come to work every day to serve our members. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support. We are here for you!

COVID-19 Community Update – 5/29/2020

Dear SLV Family,

We are excited to continue our work towards methodically re-opening additional services and amenities. At this time, we are advancing into phase 2 of our reopening plan. It is important to note that while some state-wide precautions are being relaxed, we are working hard to strike the right balance for the well-being of our SLV owners and team members. It is also important to note that the timelines listed below – particularly as we forecast several weeks out towards the end of June, are subject to change based on the latest information about our local region from South Carolina DHEC. We thank you for the amazing support of our community and the great patience you have shown, as we are all eager to move beyond the COVID-19 event. That being said, the safety and well-being of “our SLV family” will remain priority and job #1.

COVID-19 Community Update 5/8/2020

Dear SLV Family,

As we look toward the Mother’s Day weekend, we hope this message finds you, your family, and your loved ones safe and well. Our team is continuing to maintain precaution and physical distancing throughout our operations, and we encourage our community to do the same. We are working carefully to ensure the safety of our team and our members. Our leadership team members are diligently analyzing local conditions and best practices for active adult communities like SLV in our industry. This message outlines our next steps in our plan for gradually reopening our amenities and working toward restoring full service. As we stated last week, this is more of a “dimmer knob” with a gradual change than a “light switch” that brings instant change.

To all of the ladies in SLV, we offer our warm wishes for a happy Mother’s Day.
